GTA 6 Vice City: what Rockstar has shown of the city

Vice City is the main city of GTA 6, in the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar calls it “the sun and fun capital of America” and names places such as Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port. It is a present-day version of the city from 2002’s GTA: Vice City, and outlets describe it as Miami-inspired.

Is GTA 6 set in Vice City?

Partly. Vice City is the biggest city, but the game covers the whole state of Leonida. Rockstar’s tagline is “Vice City, USA.”, and its story summary puts Jason and Lucia “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America”. The other five regions are on GTA 6 map and regions.

Is GTA 6’s Vice City the same as GTA Vice City?

Same city name, different era. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out in 2002 and was set in 1986, with Tommy Vercetti as the lead, says Wikipedia. GTA 6 is set today: Rockstar writes “We’re a long way from the ’80s”. There are links back. Wikipedia says the Vintage Vice City Pack is inspired by the 2002 game and Tommy Vercetti. Flash FM, which Rockstar calls “The Vice City institution”, is a station from the earlier Vice City games.

Is Vice City in GTA 6 based on Miami?

Yes, according to outlets. Rockstar’s own pages never say “Miami”. Wikipedia calls Vice City “Miami-inspired” and says Rockstar based a research team in the city, with the first research trip in 2015. It also says Stockyard is based on Miami’s Wynwood neighbourhood. In October 2026 Miami joined the marketing, with “Welcome to Vice City” signage on the Kaseya Center roof.

Which neighbourhoods are in GTA 6’s Vice City?

Rockstar’s region page names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port. Its Ultimate Edition text adds Southside, and mentions Stockyard and Washington Beach, which GTA Wiki places in the city. The neighbourhood is Little Cuba, not Little Havana. Are there hurricanes in GTA 6?

Yes, in Leonida. In September 2026, Game Informer reported that Rockstar confirmed “tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes”, as well as local rain showers, puddles that stay after rain, and rainbows. Game Informer added that “we don’t know how often these larger, more violent storms occur or how they affect gameplay and storytelling”.
